Spark's remote controller features a brand new Wi-Fi signal transmission system, capable of controlling the aircraft* and gimbal camera at a maximum transmission range of 1.2 mi (2 km).** The remote controller can connect to a mobile device wirelessly and display a live video feed via the DJI GO 4 app. Its folding clamps allow you to attach your mobile device securely. Maximum remote controller battery life is 2.5 hours approximately.***
*The Spark remote controller is currently only compatible with Spark aircraft.
**The remote controller can reach its maximum transmission distance (FCC) in a wide open area with no electro-magnetic interference and at an altitude of about 120 meters.

I should have bought the bundle that has this controller so I would have it when I started using the Spark. You really can't get into flying the spark if you don't have this controller. It enables sport mode which really makes the spark take off....it goes so fast, dang. Also, the controller has some nice buttons/macros so you can take pictures, start and stop video, control the gimbal all from the controller. Overall, its a great addition to the Spark. It should come with the Spark, actually, the onscreen controls are ok, but not good enough.

This controller is a must by for your DJI Spark! The out of box capabilities of the drone are great, but this controller literally puts it into overdrive. Overall this controller is a need to buy as using a phone touch screen is too difficult when trying to look up and down and press the right buttons.

-It extends the range significantly (closer to the advertised 1.2 KM)
-Easier to control with physical knobs
-Easier gimbal movements
-Customizable buttons
-Sport mode (should read "ludacris speed mode")

Seriously, the sport mode is the little red button that they say you should press in movies. I love this controller!

A necessity for Spark owners

Trying to fly the Spark with just a phone is at best, imprecise. You never really feel as though you have complete control over it, and with prices ranging between $350-500, you don't want to lose or break it due to only being able to smear your fingers across glass.
Enter the controller. At $120, it's a little expensive compared to the price of the drone itself, but it improves the user experience by 100%. Works great, I've been able to get a range of around 1km out of it with FPV, and takes about a half hour to 45 minutes to charge. I would not recommend getting a Spark without the controller.
It does bear mentioning that if you get the controller AND the Spark AND extra batteries, you inch very close to the price of a Mavic. I own both, and while the Mavic is a significantly superior drone in terms of picture quality and flight capabilities, I find myself taking the Spark to smaller events like family reunions and day trips. I'm not nearly as afraid of damaging or losing it due to the lower price as well.

Item was as described by the seller. Purchased this to go along with the DJI Spark drone. It is definitely helpful for flying the drone instead of just using your cell phone. The biggest problem we have with the complete Spark drone experience is being able to see the cell phone screen on bright sunny days. (Maybe a new cell phone would help, we have cheap cell phones). We absolutely LOVE this compact drone. Very easy to fly with great info and tutorials found online to teach you basics on up.

It worked well as a remote once we were able to get it connected in the app, but it was a painful process to get the remote paired with the new drone.
Ended up on the phone with DJI Support twice to get it working.

We haven't used it for a long while yet, but it made flying the drone 1000x easier.

The phone slot didn't work with the otterbox defender case, but we anticipated that ahead of time.

I found using this with a wired connection really helps keep your phone powered up. Much more efficient.

Necessity for your Spark

Flew the spark for 2 days with my iPhone before receiving the remote but I will never fly without the remote again. Range with the phone is very limited in distance and altitude. Also the signal is very weak with just your phone. The operation of the controller makes the spark a pleasure to fly and the range and signal increase is incredible. After syncing the remote, spark, and phone I was immediately able to take the spark to an altitude of 1,500 feet with zero issues. Wind got a little high so I brought it back down but I feel I easily could have gotten it up to 2,000 feet. The added sport mode is also a huge benefit and getting up to over 30mph is a blast. Highly recommend if you have a spark. You need this period!
